THE TOP OF EUROPE MEETS IN HERNING

At the Danish Warmblood stallion licensing – Herning Horse Show – some of the best young stallions throughout Europe gather every year, and 2016 will be no exception. The best of Danish breeding is accompanied with the best from abroad.

This year the Herning Horse Show features a new and larger format of the event as the gigantic exhibition hall “Jyske Bank Boxen” will be holding the main arena. The event is the world’s largest of its kind and is expected to draw 60,000 visitors during 16-20 March 2016.
In addition to the core of the event, the Danish Warmblood stallion licensing, Herning Horse Show will also be hosting a three star international show with dressage and show jumping featuring European top riders like Denis Lynch, Rolf Göran Bengtsson, Carsten Otte Nagel, Peder Fredricson, Søren Pedersen, Denis Nielsen, Felix Hassmann, Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, Anna Kasprzak, Agnete Kirk Thinggaard, Therese Nilshagen, Emilie Nyreröd, Severo Jurado Lopez and many more.
Around 700 stallions, show and competition horses will be performing in the three arenas in Herning.

The collection of youngsters selected for the stallion licensing in Herning consists of 22 show jumpers and 45 dressage colts all of which are 3-years-old with the exception of a handful of 4-year-olds.

The collection of youngsters selected for the stallion licensing in Herning consists of 22 show jumpers and 45 dressage colts all of which are 3-years-old with the exception of a handful of 4-year-olds.
The show jumpers represent a wide range of top performance bloodlines and various sires. The 7-year-old Danish bred stallion Lagavulin (by Ludwig As x Stakkato Gold) has three sons selected for the licensing whilst Cosmeo (by Contender x Caletto I) is represented by two 3-year-old stallion candidates. Well-known stallions like Balou du Rouet, Carrico, Comme Il Faut, Untouchable and Warrant are all sires of some of the young prospects in the show jumping ring.
The collection of 45 dressage colts mainly consists of Danish bred colts but also some of the best from abroad which make the top of Europe meet in Herning. The 1.2 mio euro auction highlight from Verden, Revolution by Rocky Lee x Rouletto, will be brought before the judges by Helgstrand Dressage who is also presenting the Dutch runner-up champion Ierland by Dream Boy x Jazz.
The impactful sire Blue Hors Zack has nothing less than eight colts selected for the licensing, Tailormade Temptation has four and Blue Hors Hotline has three. The double young dressage horse world champion Sezuan, a 7-year-old Danish Warmblood stallion by Blue Hors Zack x Blue Hors Don Schufro, is presenting his first crop of 3-year-olds this year and has three sons selected for the licensing. One is out of the dam of another highly celebrated Danish Warmblood champion stallion, Glock’s Zonik who is internationally successful under Dutch Edward Gal.
Among the 45 stallion candidates bred for dressage we also find sons of internationally known sires such as Ampere, Apache, Callaho’s Benicio, Charmeur, Damon Hill, Don Schufro, Dream Boy, Foundation, Fürst Romancier, Fürstenball, Rock Forever and Sir Donnerhall I.

The Spring Auction
The Danish Warmblood Spring Auction features nothing less than 31 horses which will go under the hammer on Saturday 19 March in the afternoon. The auction lot consists of 15 stallion candidates and 16 young riding horses – 18 bred for dressage and 13 bred for show jumping.
Among the many top horses previously sold at the Spring Auction is the premium stallion Skovens Rafael who is a double world championship finalist in Verden, an elite stallion in Danish Warmblood and twice named best dressage sire at the international show in Falsterbo, Sweden.
