From classic horserugs to jackets. A- Equipment offers a fresh and different, yet classic and modern line among the more traditional and established equestrian collections available at today’s market – focusing on aesthetics and functionality involving high standard materials such as breathable materials and real wool items.
“For a couple of years, we have given the idea of creating an equestrian line some thought – to be able to create our own equipment”
So far, the Danish brand seems to be quite successful. This success, however, is not accidental. The founders behind A- Equipment, Christian and Andreas Schou, both have their roots in equestrian sports with international careers at the showjumping circus. Growing up among horse people, the two brothers have been more or less surrounded by equestrian equipment in their daily work.
“Through all these years as equestrians, we got many ideas how to improve and optimize certain equipment. Through the developing process, it has been important for us to focus on quality instead of quantity.”
Through Schou’s collaboration with the leading Danish horse feed brand Equsana, the A- Equipment founders finally got the opportunity to create their own brand, based on their own vision of how the equipment should be formed. Today’s collection consists of a few, carefully selected items, where purpose and functionality are the main keys.
“The thought was to produce items, that we ourselves find useful. In our sports stable, Absolute Horses in Denmark, we always valued a stylish and coherent look in relation to our equipment – values that also characterize the collection.”
Still, starting up an unfamiliar business – has been challenging enough – even for a well-established equestrian family-business like Absolute Horses.
“It has, without a doubt, been challenging enough converting our visions and ideas into real items, but it has also been a very exciting and educational process. We were not very familiar with different materials from the beginning, but we knew what we preferred and what we wanted to wear during training. In relation to the horses, we knew the equipment had to offer them the highest level of comfort during physical exercise.”
The result is simple: Pure stylish simplicity – less is more. A personal favourite.
